EARTH DAY: GOING GREEN IN STYLe

Make this the best Earth Day ever at The Shops at Columbus Circle, where you can give Mother Nature some TLC by shopping in an eco-friendly way. From beauty to clothing, these green retailers will help you celebrate (and save) the planet. And don’t miss The Shops at Columbus Circle’s Earth Day event on April 18, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can learn from local businesses that are raising awareness for sustainability, enjoy eco-friendly prizes, and shop exclusive offers.

As a socially conscious company, Eileen Fisher is a pioneer in eco-friendly fashion and is committed to creating garments that stand the test of time. On April 18, visit the store for a mending workshop to learn how to revive imperfect pieces. The shop will have clothing donated from Eileen Fisher Renew that’s in need of some love (if you fix it, you can keep it!).

From its responsible products to the ways it gives back to society to its 100% pure plant and flower aromas, Aveda’s mission is to care for the world. Stock up on the Shampure Limited Edition Hand & Body Wash ($35 for 500 ml). In honor of Earth Month, the entire purchase price goes to support Charity:Water. Each bottle sold gives one person clean drinking water for life.

At Diptyque, you can rest assured that your dollars are spent at a sustainable company that is committed to ethical sourcing of raw materials. For example, the essence of vetiver from Haiti used in the Vetyverio eau de parfum ($115 for 75 ml) has ESR certification (fairly traded, sustainable and responsible). At the Earth Day event, you’ll receive a hand and arm massage using Diptyque’s blood orange-inspired invigorating body balm.

Pop Bag gives customers the ultimate design power and the ability to replace worn-down parts of a handbag without having to buy an entirely new one. Save money and materials with four interchangeable pieces. At the Earth Day event, Pop Bag will offer 10% off all purchases and stylists will be on hand for customization tutorials.

At H&M, customers can give their garments a new life. Drop off unwanted textiles at the garment-collection box in the H&M store. The brand also has a new Conscious Garment Collection featuring cotton made from collected garments. The collection offers a variety of new wardrobe favorites — look for the green tag on select pieces.

Sephora is full of clean skincare and makeup brands, so you can get the beauty you want, minus the ingredients you might not desire. Make a bee-line to Milk, a vegan brand with a newly expanded lip collection. Youth to the People is a small-batch, cruelty-free brand with superfood cleansers, serums, and creams. On April 18, Sephora will be giving mini treatments in partnership with Kiehl’s, a sustainable skincare company.

L’Occitane works directly with over 130 French farmers to ensure that its products are of the highest quality and sourced as naturally as possible. As part of its commitment to the planet, L’Occitane offers 17 of its beauty staples in smart refills, substantially reducing the packaging weight from the standard container size.
