Cheers to the Royal Wedding!
Wedding bells are ringing from Britain to The Shops at Columbus Circle. On May 19, Prince Harry and his all-American princess, Meghan Markle, will be walking down the aisle, and millions are expected to watch from around the world. Want to get inspired for the big event? Head to The Shops at Columbus Circle — where the British quotient runs high.
Fun fact: “Flower” was Meghan Markle’s nickname as a child. Appropriately, Ted Baker features ladylike designs with delicate flowers scattered across everything from cocktail dresses to high-heels, and walking into the store is like walking into a garden party in the English countryside. In honor of the happy couple, Ted Baker will be hosting a Royal Tea Party on the day of the wedding with light catering from Bouchon Bakery and giveaways.
Meghan’s sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, is often spotted wearing L.K.Bennett. So it’s no surprise that the boutique will be hosting a special in-store event in honor of the Royal Wedding, offering 20 percent off select items, as well as offers on the ravishing Jenny Packham Bridal Collection. There will also be plenty of bubbly and wine, so that you can make a toast in style.
Meghan has confessed in the press that she is obsessed with the perfumes from Jo Malone London, another British import. Her everyday scent is the Wild Bluebell, and she’s also a fan of the Wood Sage & Sea Salt fragrance. On May 18 and 19, the store will be offering an opportunity to indulge in the complimentary "Scent Your Wedding" service and discover all the ingredients for your own perfect day. With the purchase of any 100ml cologne, you will also receive a special token of appreciation for him or for her. You’ll be smelling very royal, indeed.
Leading up to the wedding, Links of London is also getting in on the Royal Wedding action. Buy a Sweetie bracelet and you’ll get a free engravable charm in honor of the big event. And of course, the shop has plenty of other royal- and wedding-inspired charms to hang off your necklaces and bracelets. You’ll also get to sample a custom blend of oh-so-British Earl Grey tea made just for Links of London, plus a tin to take home.
Over at the Mandarin Oriental New York, Asiate's mixologists have whipped up a couple of libations in honor of the Royal Wedding. For young fans, there’s a Princess Dream mocktail, a twist on a Shirley Temple. The very grown-up Royal “Flower” (named for Meghan) is a spin on the classic French 75. The cocktail features sparkling wine from England and gin from California — in honor of the young couple’s roots.
